Day-By-Day Itinerary

  1. 1

    Day 1

    Float in or ATV to wall-tent camp. Set up, scout shoreline, evening calling session.

  2. 2

    Day 2

    Pre-dawn paddle and call along primary shoreline. Listen and locate responsive bulls.

  3. 3

    Day 3

    Call-and-wait at established wallows and moose travel corridors through the timber.

  4. 4

    Day 4

    Boat or ATV scout of remote pond systems. Heavy cow-calling at midday.

  5. 5

    Day 5

    Aggressive calling — rut peak. Guide deploys scent and visual decoy strategy.

  6. 6

    Day 6

    Meat care and cape day on harvest. Otherwise continue calling on fresh wallows.

  7. 7

    Day 7

    Extended float and glass new drainages not yet pressured.

  8. 8

    Day 8

    Return to primary bull corridor. Evening calling from the most productive stand.

  9. 9

    Day 9

    Final long-range push across new water. Meat and trophy logistics begin.

  10. 10

    Day 10

    Pack out, float back, cape and antler care, departure day.

Gear & Equipment Checklist

  • Heavy rifle — .338 Win Mag, .300 Win Mag, or .375 H&H minimum recommended
  • Waterproof hip waders for shoreline scouting and float work
  • 10x50 binoculars — moose country is big and open
  • Layered clothing system for sub-freezing mornings and warm afternoons
  • Bear spray on person at all times in moose country
  • Sleeping bag rated to -10°F for wall-tent nights
  • Dry bags for float camp and boat gear
  • Personal first-aid kit
  • Valid moose tag and draw confirmation paperwork
